Protegeles
- During February 11 and 12, Protegeles drove a bus decorated with the logo and colors of the event to some primary and secondary schools in the Madrid Autonomous Region and took Protegeles’ team of psychologists and specialists in education to the schools for them to inform children about the risks linked to Internet.
- Protegeles also promoted a safe use of Internet among children in its webpage portaldelmenor.es (The children’s website) by means of organizing the following activities, lucky drawings and contests:

Internet is everywhere
That time when Internet was just accessible through computers is over, now Internet is in our mobile phones, in our consoles…If you want to win a Movistar PlayPack with a 5070 Nokia cell phone with the Sonic videogame preinstalled on it and much more, you just have to take part in our contest Mini-tales about Internet. It’s very easy; just send an email with your mini-tale about Internet to info@portaldelmenor.es. Mini-tales can only have a maximum of 160 characters, the same as a SMS and they must be about Internet: something that happened to you while surfing the net, how we can make of Internet a safer place for children, or just a short history somehow related to Internet. But remember, it has to be about Internet.
Internet is in your handHave you already seen our spot for the Safer Internet Day 2008?
Now, after seeing it, you understand the name of this activity, don’t you? Internet is in your hand because Life online is what you make of it. But…what do you make of it? We want to know, so we propose that you make your own version of our spot and send it to us. You just need a hand (maybe your own one), a mouse, a camera and lots of imagination! Think of what you like doing the most while you are connected to Internet, disguise your hand according to it, as you have seen in our spot, and send us your own version of the spot. Ah! and although we know that the important thing is participating, you can win a digital camera.
The safety chain
Do you know about the basic safety rules for Internet? Do your friends know? Next Tuesday 12 February 2008 on occasion of the Safer Internet Day and in order to celebrate it, we want to start a safety chain. If that day you visit portaldelmenor.es, you will find a short text with the Main Safety Rules for Internet. If you copy and send this text to a friend (you must also send a copy of the message to the portaldelmenor email address), you will be helping to make Internet a safer place for everybody.

Last Safer Internet Day, many different organizations sent their postings to the thematic blogging marathon on a safer Internet, such as the Madrid Autonomous Region Children Ombudsperson, Mr. Arturo Canalda; Teléfonica; Red.es; the Spanish Labor and Social Affairs Ministry Observatory of Youth (Observatorio de Infancia del Ministerio de Trabajo y Asuntos Sociales), the General Coordinator of the Observatory of Television and Audiovisual Contents, Mr. Alejandro Perales; Orange; Optenet; Icmedia and PROTEGELES. Telefónica
Telefónica, together with the Spanish Confederation of Education Centers (Confederación Española de Centros de Enseñanza) has launched the 2008 edition of the contest Yourvid.eu You can enter the contest’s webpage at www.telefonica.es/planeta to know all the details, see the winner videos of the 2007 edition and take part in its blog about how to use Internet and cell phones in a responsible way.
Optenet
On occasion of the Safer Internet Day 2008, Optenet offered free web filtering software for parents and educators to use in order to enable a safe and optimal Internet use for their children. The application was available for download at their home page (www.optenet.com) and users could install it in their computers on February 12.
Red.es
Red.es, a public entity included in the Spanish Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Commerce (Ministerio de Industria, Turismo y Comercio) has started a program focused on children and the new ICT called chavales (www.chaval.es( www.chaval.es)
, ithin which it has developed an online game for children to learn in a funny way some advices on a safe use of mobile phones. These advices can be divided in the following areas: mobility, entertainment, costs, access and safety.
